At the end of the year I plan on buying a 6-string MTD or a Rob Allen fretless. Since there are plenty of MTD pics around, I want to see the Rob Allens!

Apologies if this has been done before, my drunkarse was too lazy to search beyond the first page of results. :)

Here's my cutie. I love this bass.

  4. Here's a bigger picture of mine. Wonderful bass, very unique sound, great fit and finish! Ash body, fiddleback maple top, ebony board and bridge. FYI... if doing it over, I would probably go with a 4 string... the tapewound strings combined with the very light body are not the best combination for a great B string IMO. Other than that, it's an amazing instrument (and even the B is 'OK').

What is the average turnaround ya'll have experienced? I'm not the type of dude to balk at a year, but if it's more like 5 then I'll... go find a used one. ;)

Per Rob, it depends. I know, that's some real useful information. Mine's taking almost 3 months, and the body had already been made. That is, he had a body, of the woods I wanted, in stock. E-mail or phone him -- he'll give you a straight answer.

Rob seems to be a great guy. He was fast with the responses when I had asked some questions in the past.

When you talk to him, please do me a favor and ask him about gig bags. I had written him about getting one he uses for the Mouse. The one on his website is an Undercover...nice! but $$$

I placed my order Jan 31st. Rob quoted me a time of three months.

  13. That's about how long mine took a few years ago. He's a great guy to deal with, and builds a unique, high quality, and relatively inexpensive product (when you compare it to other boutique instruments of the same quality).

    KJung,

If the B suxcks and you are inclined to have your fretless sing...
    Why not string it EADGC?

Everytime I grab a fretless I want to easily be able to play high melodic lines so I'd tune mine with a high C.

    Oh and DEEEEEETROIT BASKETBALL!!!!!

Your profile says you've got an MB-2. I didn't think an f-hole was available on that? Or is this a different one?

The f hole is an available option on the mb2.

I love the look, and IIRC it was a $75 or so option.

Check the website, you can see the option listed, and see other mb-2's with f holes. Or at least one other one.

    P.S. Her name's Maybelle. :)
