Here's mine! What do you have?
Martin ehhh?? Class act! How do you like it? What strings do you use?
Did you mean :
Not a personal pic, but you get the idea...
Mine's a CB10 (no factory electronics) to which I added a K&K soundboard pickup (from Bob Golihur) and Hipshot Ultralite tuners. Schweet.
It's a Jasmine by Takamine
Here's the back
Sorry the pics are so big.
It currently has TI Acousticore strings on there, but I am changing to something with higher tension. The TIs don't get the body moving at all, unfortunately. They'll be put aside for another bass at a later date.
The three strings I'm looking to replace them with are Labella Tapewounds, Roto Tapes, and a custom set of Zon nickelwound piccolo strings tuned F#-B-E-A-D-G, with the F# being the same note as the 2nd fret of a normal E string.
Here's a crappy webcam pic of me playing my Tacoma CB10E.
It has black tapewound Labella strings on it now, and I love them.
My Edward V. Dick (http://www.evd303.com) ABG:
Here's my Rick Turner Ren 4
Ooooooh nice frame
Oh hold on a minute there...I got one of those too...I just play the Ferrington more is all.
Dude's Renn 4 Pics
How's the pure acoustic volume out of those, anyway? Enough for practice?
If I were gigging and needed an ABG, that one would be on my short list.
Enough for practice maybe....I don't really consider them to be ABG's.
Plugged in, how does it compare tonally to a "real" (hollow with soundhole) ABG?
How does that martin sound unamped? will it keep up with an acoustic guitar?
Nor do I. The through-body stringing precludes a vibrating soundboard on the front of the bass, which is what an "acoustic" is all about. They're nice, though and get a very authentic acoustic style sound.
okay here are my main ones:
fretted Godin A4 and fretless Godin A5 (set up with a high C string)
TI acousticores on the fretted, and, for now TI flats on the fretless (really just so I can use the EBow on my new recording...usually it also has Acousticores, which, btw, sound great!!
I almost bought a five string Ren a couple of months ago...and still might....but really I love my Godins! Great basses.
I also have a Dean Performer Plus, an older Guild model, and just sold an Ovation ABG.
Tho not really "acoustic" I am itching for the much-rumoured Lakland Skyline hollowbody!
