This pic shows the nice low action.

My five is tuned BEADG. I found I didn't really like the sound of a high C string on a fretless when compared to the tone of the other strings...a bit too "zippy." I would find myself not using it much or using it almost exclusively. I contemplated getting a light-gauge G string and seeing if I could tune it up to C without it breaking, so I could have the extra string and maintain about the same tone, but I never did it.

Man, I wanna see some Carvin fretless sixers. Carvin ebony fbs are sooo gorgeous, especially unlined.

Love it. Sounds good, looks good, plays good. Strung with Carvin flats. Chords sing like crazy on this bad boy.

The black 5 string is the Dean Edge 5 that the Brice replaced. Yeah, the Dean is better, but the Brice is good enough. That black Dean is what I'm playing in my avatar!

Wow, talk about a misnomer. The only thing even remotely either vintage or retro about that bass is the basic body shape. A better name is in order I think. Goregeous bass BTW, reminds me of a Hamer Cruise for some reason.

"Vintage" is the model which typically involves a 3-piece neck and no lam top. This one is a custom one-off as it has the graphite neck. "Retro" is the body shape which is somewhat suggestive of a Fender Jazz or Precision in the curves. All of Pete's models and body styles can be perused at: www.hanewinckelguitars.com

    Very cool.

I'm instantly reminded of the monolith in "2001: A Space Odyssey".

Absolutely beautifull bass. I love all black basses w/ black hardware and that ebony board just makes it even sweeter.

EDIT: opps... didnt see that you mentioned it was a graphite neck. i presume the fretboard is graphite as well then?
