Even thought there are many of these posts already, I couldn´t resist starting one more...

    Sterlings are also welcome

So, here´s mine, not actually the picture of my ray, but identical...

  2. How come every Stingray pic i ever see has a maple fretboard instead of the rosewood? Is the maple fretboard better or just look better or something?

It's a '70's funk term. REAL funk, that is. It's like trying to write down an orgasm. You can't adequately explain it. Listen to the beginning of "Hair" by Graham Central Station, or the slap solo in "Stomp" by the Brothers Johnson. THAT, my fellow lowender, is SPANK!;)

No, No. I'm not that dumb...

    <font size=1>...or am I?:p</font>

I sold the '76 about 6 years ago. I sold it & bought a GREAT 73 Pontiac LeMans!!!!!! That car was GREAT!!!!!

I just bought the Turser a few months ago because I don't want to spend $1200 on a Music man because I'm not into them that much any more. I'd rather spend that on a Czech Spector or a new Bolt-On Czech Spector that should be out early 2002.

BTW, the Turser cost me $175. I'd like to get a OLP & get rid of the Turser.

  8. Ok i hear what you mean now Warwicknut. Thanks for the explanation. I've been thinking about getting a stingray as my next bass. How does a 4 string with 3 band eq, vintage sunburst finish, maple fretboard, and a matching headstock sound?

I dont have one yet, but I am planning on buying a 2002 Blue Dawn Stingray 3-EQ with maple fingerboard and 3 ply black pickguard in the next few months:

    [IMG] [IMG]

...But Im not a fan of the matching headstocks. I dont think Im gonna get one, I like the look of the natural maple ones with this finish better.

You should all have taste this good ;)

  12. I'm glad that they brought a blueburst back to the lineup. That blue dawn is their best yet!
Here is my mid 80's blueburst that was modded with a three band EQ and a gold pickguard from Jeannie Pickguards. I sold it awhile back, but it was a cool bass.

    how bout my sterling?

it now looks a bit different - no frets, no pickguard, and some more dents. gonna get a bart pickup and graphite neck soon, and i MIGHT strip it down to natural finish.

Hey funkycarnivore, are those abalone dot inlays on that stingray? Or is it just the lighting? And I assume those little circles under your strings on the bridge are those string mutes that everyones talking about.

  17. Those are Holodots. They're these stick on things that look pretty cool under the right lighting. I think the Holodot people are still around, but I can't find them anymore.

The bridge on that Ray has the string mutes, but the circles are the adjusters to raise and lower the mutes. The actual mutes are the black foam rubber looking things below the circles.
