Show Us Your Best Bass Knobs

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Nightman, Jan 13, 2020.

  1. Some smaller than normal aluminum knobs on a Guild Pilot. The bass is downsized and I thought smaller knobs would complement that.

2 versions of a knob I modeled and then 3d printed in TPU, a urethane with a bit of flex and rubbery feel. Kind of sloppy but they feel nice.

John East's preamps come with some good looking knobs, IMHO...

But beware the ravages of time. These three were installed over 30 years ago. The shiny one nearest the edge was made by Schaller, and looks as good as the day it was bought. On that same day, the others - manufacturer unknown - looked the same but were about 1/3 of the price. Most of the gold is gone...

This link should take you to pictures. Let me know what you think. I thought about making some more like this. But I don't know if they would sale or how much to sell them for.

The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

I guess I should read the first post. I thought this was about they guy who brags about his chops, shows up late and drunk, and never moves gear. Real knobs.

Sorry to hear about Kevin at Dcline, I hope things get better for him. I have his knobs on several of my basses (photos later).

Jazz Bass Special. A trio of intact “F” knobs! (and a custom switch ring just for fun)

That's an interesting look!! I like it and if I were playing Rock/heavy metal I'd own one of those and have knobs for it made from these!!

I'm only at the planning stage of having these rocks drilled to be used as knobs. :) But I'd want them to look more natural, like they do now.

I love these 80s era metal Peavey knobs! The catch is they are kind of heavy, 3 of them can add 3-4 oz to an instrument.

These aluminum Ernie Ball domes and the 3 small, 90s era Washburn aluminum knobs look much better on my Dynabass vs the original rubber grip speed knobs and small plastic knobs for the EQ. Plus, these knobs are more congruent to the quality of the nice Schaller bridge and tuners that came stock on the bass.

The speed knobs do grip nicely, but eh...

Not on my bass, but my LP. These green tinted speed knobs are really cool looking.

I switched out the preamp in this bass, which added an additional concentric pot. I had these vintage chrome Sadowsky concentric knobs sitting around collecting dust, so I decided to use them instead of buying a matching set!
