Gladly, (Always happy to show these off) 2010 VM P: 2010 VM J: I'm gonna haveta get some new pics of these things!

I'm really fussy about 3 tone sunburst finishes, and don't have one, so I'm GASing for the VM Fretless P. Something about the broad yellow field, tight burst at the border, and subtle grain veneer, like the Jag above, sort of, that I really like.
My VM Jazz 70s & VM Precision (Amber) The Jazz has CTS pots, Switchcraft jack, a Variometer tone control, chrome pickguard (Jeez, maybe I oughta clean it before snapping pics, eh?) chrome ashtray covers and is strung with Fender 9050 SS Flats. The Precision has CTS pots, Switchcraft jack, a Variometer tone control, (Wilde) Bill Lawrence P46 pickup, Aged cream pearl pickguard, a chrome bridge cover and is strung with Fender 9050 SS Flats. I love 'em both. They get the job done and more! I love the natural finish, and the only reason I would ever look to "upgrade" either model would be to acquire one with a natural ash body. For now, they cover my Jazz and P needs completely!
It's not a full-on VM, so please forgive. I bought the neck of a Vintage Modified Jaguar for a parts-bass project and it feels as great as it looks! I'm such a sucker for painted/matching headstocks. The blocks are a particularly slick touch, as well. And to add a little extra visual "VOOM" while shaving off some weight, I installed a set of Hipshot Ultralites (HB6C-½) and a Drop-D Tuner (BT7…I love those darn things! ). That reminds me, anyone interested in a nice set of Chrome Squier tuners?
NBD. The VM Fretless Precision came in today. This is a great all-around example of craftmanship for VM series. It came in at about 7 pounds, which is almost scary light. Intonation and tuning were spot on. The fit of the neck in the pocket was tight, but there is a little body overlap, wider than the neck heel. The burst pattern and the finish were very impressive, though I was looking for more of a yellow center field as is too often shown in stock photos. Short decision on this is that I have too much invested in a parts Jazz fretless and this little baby would only be an interference with it. So it goes back until the next time I buy it!
My newly arrived 30" short scale bass dream machine... compact, lightweight (6.7 lbs.), so easy to play, warm P-tones, bright J-tones, great tone = pure FUN. $153 new! I don't know why Fender chooses to sell these so affordably, but I'm sure glad I got one.
Here's a 'Before & After' shot of my modified VM Fretless Jazz Bass. Didn't really dig the 'Jaco' styling so I gussied it up a lil bit!
