Show your Buckeyburl Maple topped basses!

  1. Ok so after posting a "show your exotic topwooded basses", it seems as though the Buckeyeburl topped basses stood out to me the most. So...Show your Buckeyburl Maple topped basses!

    Are you looking for buckeye burl or maple burl? They're two different woods.

    I'm assuming you mean buckeye burl, which as Geoff mentioned doesn't come from a maple tree. Here's a fairly high res pic of mine- the color really can appear different under different lighting (artificial light makes it look like a more intense yellow-y green).

    lostrings, do you know what kind of wood your fret board is....very awesome. I'm presently working on building a bass and have yet to decide what wood I'm making the fretboard out of.

    That fretboard is bocote
    awesome stuff but really oily!
    I think is smells of mustard when cut!
     
  8. The fingerboard is made out of Bocate. I also did the back of the bass in Bocate...Gene.

  12. Thanx :cool: It's certainly old school being the 13th 'B-type' ever built, and of quite some historic significance for Benavente because of its appearance in Bass Player magazine in March 2003.
