IMG_3224.JPG IMG_3233.JPG Ok, I'm always several years late to the party. My CMD 121 is getting lonely and needs a friend. Show me your NY 121 or 151 stack and tell me about the gigs you use it on.

Here's my combo - I use it mostly for jazz gigs but thinking a mini stack would be ideal for louder blues gigs. What's your favorite extension cab?

Both in stealth mode. (Big plastic logos removed).

I'm just back into using the CMD 121P / NY 121. I'm glad I did, it sounds great. And, it's easy to move around.

I like how tall the traveler 12 is - but I dig how compact the matching cab is!

I'm also liking the "stealth mode".

  6. I've got a NY121, but I'm waiting on another deal to fall into my lap for either a 2nd NY121 or a CMD121p...

This sounds like an awesome rig. I just ordered the Traveller 121H, completely without hearing one; I've only tested the NY 121 - pretty much what your combo is. They NY 12 sounds amazing, and I nearly got one, but the Traveller is spec'd down to 40 Hz vs. 45.

Can you describe the difference in sound between the two? I'm hoping the Traveller is pretty much the same except for even more very low end. They do have different tweeters (piezo vs "compression"), but I don't know the reasons for that or what kind of sound to expect.

    Mine is actually a CMD-121P/CMD-121P (headless) stack. I wanted a NY121 but I found a second CMD-121P for a price I couldn't resist.

That's really cool - I've thought about picking up a second cmd combo - and bypassing the head for a 2x12 stack.

That way you'd always have a backup amp right there on stage.

I don't have a pic, but my CMD121P sits nicely on top of my 90s Ampeg 210HE stacked vertically. Sounds really great, too.

Do you want a Markbass Club number? I'll trust you without a pic.

I unwired the piezo tweeter in the combo, and (mostly) keep the compression horn dialed to the off position on the traveller cab. Tweeters and tube grunge don't really mix all that well, afaic, although i do use it when i play fretless w/efx,and it has a lovely clear sound for that.
The traveller does indeed offer a slightly fuller deeper tone compared to the combo cab.
