Shure Beta 91A Half-Cardioid Condenser Boundary Microphone

The Shure BETA®91A is designed for use with kick drums, as well as other traditional low-frequency applications including piano. Featuring an updated microphone capsule, integrated preamplifier, and XLR connection, Beta 91A offers a strong low-frequency response and is specifically tailored for bass frequency applications. The Beta 91A combines superior attack and punch for studio-quality sound, even at extremely high sound pressure levels (SPL).

This odd-looking mic is excellent for other unusual recording challenges. In addition to piano or kick drum, it works well inside a cajon. This avoids a player's legs or shifting cajon from knocking over a microphone.

Manufacturer's info: BETA 91A Half-Cardioid Condenser Microphone | Shure Americas

This is the project I bought this mic for. We were gigging typically outside locations, quiet acoustic vibe, and practically no room for external mics. I laid the 91A inside the cajon on a rolled up towel. Worked like a charm. The project is over by the mic is in as-new condition and ready for a new assignment!
