Was this guy "really" as bad as people say. I've never heard his playing on record or live. Is he pretty bad?
now i have heard many bassists that were bad,but for some reason everbody like to bash SID.i dont dis-like nor like him either way,i'm sure you can find some of his stuff on the net, listen to it and let us know what YOU think. i never really focused on his playing enuff to flame him but the group consensus is'nt one of grandeur.
Well... sometimes he was so "bad" they turned off his amp and didn't bother telling him. No one seemed to notice... including him.
I have bootleg lps of some of the American Tour shows (Atlanta, Tx, & SF) and you can hear Sid- and hear how bloody awful he was- out of tune- lots of missed notes- due to the fact he was drunk and/or smacked out, smashing hicks in the head w/ his bass, and receiving full bottles and cans thrown from the crowd, not to mention his penchant for tryin' to be Pete Townsend- doin' windmills and other "rock" moves w/ his plucking hand. Steve Jones claims that he, not Sid, played Bass on "Bullocks"- with the exception of "God Save the Queen" and "Anarchy"-Judging from the live stuff I've heard he may have been able to pull those off during a sober moment in the studio.
Not to argue or anything, but I think a 5-year-old could play these songs with a couple days of pratice.
No need to have two threads on the same person. im gonna close this one and leave the other one open since it has more replies.
