Signal chain opinions

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by GrooveMongrel, Aug 16, 2004.

  1. My signal chain is: Bass->Volume Pedal->Compressor->Tube Pre-Amp->SansAmp->Amplifier Input w/-15db pad engaged. Chorus Pedal thru Effects Loop.

What changes would you make and why?

What's your signal chain setup and why do you like it?

Seems confusing to use three preamps (tubepre, sansamp, amp) hmm...

I'd use SansAmp (if you have BDDI) only as a DI. But if you use it as a overdrive/tube simulation it seems ok. What is the purpose of that Tube pre-amp?

But hey it's your call. Do what suits you best :)

    My chain is following:
bass->TU-2->BassIQ->Black Finger compressor->Octabass->DoubleMuff->PBA-2wah->SansAmpBDDI (only as DI and preamp with lousy backline)->amp

I've been thinking to put the compressor last in the chain (before the BDDI) just to try and check out what it does to my sound.
  3. The SansAmp is indeed used as an "effect" The tube pre is for warming up the signal from the compressor also an "effect"...not really necessary but what the heck, I have it so I use it and it doesn't sound worse. Usually I start with my amp set flat and then adjust as necessary for the room.
