I was wondering if any ony out there has used any cables that use these plugs made by G&H? they seem like a really good idea, but what is the real world functionality of these?

  2. I haven't yet...But, back in the old days (84 or so), I had a Hot Wire cable that had a silent switch end...big, brown coily cord....

I have a friend who has one of those cords. I've borrowed it a couple times and it does actually work. It totally eliminates popping and humming when you're plugging in/unplugging. As far as reliability, I don't think he's ever had a problem with it.

Now whether it's worth the extra cash when you can just unplug the amp end first....

Yeah that is a good question, but I was looking at making some cable, and the silent plugs only cost $.60 more that the standard. so at $1.20 per cable the expense is negligable.
