simple wiring question - plz help!

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by JC JC, Oct 9, 2013.

  1. see wiring diagram for Joe Barden Jazz Bass pickups:
    http://www.joebarden.com/Products/Wiring-Diagrams/JBass.pdf

The diagram has capacitor caps that are "optional".

    Newbie question:
If I don't use the capacitors, do I omit them entirely?
or do I need to use plain wire in their place instead?

  2. The link is broken, but I would assume you are referring to treble-bleed capacitors. Just leave them out. If you shunt the connections, the volume pots will not work properly.

It says to use one or the other tone cap. You can't omit it entirely. I would use the .047 personally (on the tone cap). I've never put caps on the volume pots. You can just not put them on and be fine. The rest of the wiring is standard for a Jazz if you leave those caps out.
