Singer from my bands in high school

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by Sheep Man, Sep 22, 2003.

  1. Hey guys, I just got word that the singer from my 2 bands in high school was in a near-fatal car crash recently. He was originally thought to be dead, but there was a mix-up with the bodies, and he's actually in the hospital right now in critical condition.
I was told that he can hear and understand things, but he has trouble responding.

Please, if you can, say a little prayer for him if you have time.

  3. I'm really sorry to hear that and my prayers are with him. I too worry about something like that happening to me. I play in a group that has 3 members still in high school and my 17 year old drummer just got a motorcycle.
  4. Sorry to hear that happened him...

I wish him a steady recovery!
  5. Come to think of it, I wonder if any TBers had heard anything about a car crash somewhere in Louisiana (I'm assuming that's where it happened, since my friend is in a hospital somewhere in Louisiana) involving young missionaries in a van.

If any of you know anything about the crash, or any updates, I would be very grateful...

Sorry to hear about that, Sheep.:(
  7. I was just informed a short while ago that while he's still unconscious, he has opened his eyes and moved his head a little bit.

Come to think of it, I don't know why I didn't post this earlier, but I wrote a little poem about/for him the day after I found out.

    A True Beautiful Guy

Namhi Hwang as he is known,
    is quite the Beautiful Guy.
And so it came to pass one day,
    that he would nearly die.

The Paper Tigers and No-Name Guys,
    we were together a team.
But now I am afraid that,
I Had Too Much To Dream

    Namhi you are an inspiration,
    a friend and brother true.
It hurts to know you almost died,
    doing That Thing You Do.

In friendship and in life the same,
    the same cliched line rings:
The things that sould matter the most,
    are All The Small Things.

    I haven't known you Everlong,
it's been just four short years.
    Even then I cannot help,
    but shed these heavy tears.

Four years later it is still true,
you are one of a kind.
Your Korean pride mixed in with your
    Green-Tinted Sixties Mind.

One time you sang Adam's Song,
    and we all sang along.
Now I write this song for you,
in hopes that you'll stay strong.

I hope one day to hear your voice
    singing on the radio station.
Then you and I could sit and chat
    of our Californication.

But you've been in an ICU
since all of three days ago.
It's funny how this [crap] goes down,
but it's still The World I Know.

We are your friends and family,
and we sit here now still grieving.
    All because you're lying there,
    so still and Barely Breathing.

    Some of us are wondering,
    and ask the question, "Why?"
But I'd like to think that if you could,
you'd say to us: "Don't Cry."

    In life we're only Freshmen,
and much to learn have we.
But this is what we'll always do,
and that is, "Stand By Me."

A guy from my high school died recently in a car crash at 2 am. He was a senior, star of the football, and brother to one of the girls in my grade. It's a medium sized private school, so it really hit hard. Suprisingly enough, there was no alcohol, drugs, street racing, or other people in the car involved. He just fell asleep behind the wheel and hit a tree. Many people knew him to be a designated driver, which made the death even more ironic. My thoughts go out to all those who experience tragedy in any form.

Dude, i'm praying for him, you, and all his friends and families. Please keep us posted on how he does.
  12. Well, it looks like I'll be heading over to Lafayette tomorrow. I heard from his sister that he's awake now, but still has a very long way to go. A friend of mine scored some cheap plane tickets, so I'll be gone for the weekend.
