What are my choices for decent 1U rack reliable amps for a backup in my rack???? I looking at MB F1, GK mb2-100 so far.... Pardon my spelling.
+1 That small GK amp seems to be a bit of a mess, so I would totally avoid that. Problems are still continuing after 6 'revisions'. Not good. The F1 and F500 are rock solid, single space, and have rack ears available (I don't think they come with the rack ears, since most would use these in a bag of some sort). The F1 and F500 have identical power and general spec's, with the F500 adding some nice features (a fully featured DI with pre/post switch and line level control, two bands of semi-parametric EQ versus the fixed mids on the F1, and a mute switch). They sound identical to each other set flat (I own both). Wonderful, small, loud (into 4ohms) heads that are rock solid regarding reliability IMO and IME.
Geez- I had missed those most recent posts in that thread. I was going to order an MB2 this week, but now I'm seriously reconsidering seeing as how even the most recent ones are having troubles. KJung- I'm distraught. Sell me your Markbass cheap to make me feel better
If I remember correctly, while it is one space, it's a very 'wide and deep' form factor, not a 'micro amp' like the F1/F500.
