Hello all, I'm currently looking to build my own 12-string extended range bass and the next phase of the project will be the bridge. Obviously i doubt 12-string bass bridges are made, so i figure i will go the route of single saddle. My question is any recommendations of a decent brand that is reasonably priced? I kind of would rather stay away from chinese made ones cause i have a feeling they won't be that great. I also found Hipshot TRIPLE LOCK DOWN Single-String Bass Bridge, does anyone have any experience with these? Any feedback is appreciated, thanks
I used them when I made my 3-string. Pros: Hipshot quality, versatile. Cons: Hipshot prices, required routing.
Babicz makes a single string bridge for bass, their solo rail. http://www.fullcontacthardware.com/fch-1-solorail-individual-bass-saddle.htm
There's nothing wrong with single string bridges, but if you're trying to keep cost down why not use three 4 string bridges or two 6 string bridges? You'd have to do some filing to the edges to get them closer together, but it should work.
