Hello fellow Low End Keepers. Looking to purchase a low-mid budget 5 string. Was looking at some Ibanez SR's and Sterling Ray's, but I saw a friend of mine who is in a big horn band, and his Bass Player was playing a Sire 5. I was impressed how it sounded in the mix. It really filled the room, smoothly. The Bass Player said he liked it a lot minus being a little to heavy. So...What are your thoughts about the V3..Generation 2, compared to a $250 increase to get a V7? Feel wise and construction how it performs.
I've had a few V7s and one V3. IMO the 2nd Gen V7s are of a noticeably higher quality than the V3s. I'm not normally big on that stuff, but I feel like the extra $250 is worth it in this case for the V7. Gigging my V7 at the casino tonight.
Front to back. I play a Lakland 5. That is the neck profile I prefer. Sire (and Fender) aren't even in the same ballpark.
