That is some nice, fat, front pickup tone! Preston Crump is sounding like Bootsy!
I really see anything to debate anymore. Sires are quality, gig ready basses. Some people don’t them so much. How is that different from any other bass.

My recently purchased USA sterling is the only thing that I like better than my sire p9. Utterly slaughters everything I’ve played new or used in the 400-600 price range

Nice playing but I’m confused . Is this Preston Crump or Brandon Lane?
What model is he playing ?

They're not. Some people dig them, some don't. I didn't realize there was a debate.

I just set up a V7 with Nickel strings and that made a major difference in the heft of the sound. This bass sounds nice with everything flat. I also set it up "dirty", meaning it plays clean until I dig in a bit, then it has a slap vibe. The top end is pretty much identical to a Fender in tone and attack.

I had one V7 5 string, sold it because I couldn't stand the 7 1/4" radius on it. I know that the second generation will have the 9 1/2" radius which to me makes a lot more sense and I guess that is why they're doing it.

Unless I am missing something you said pretty much what I said. Sires are made to a good standard and some folks really like them.

I’ve never played one, but everything I have read about them or heard sounds good. I’m not a fan of that headstock shape though.

  17. I haven't had the opportunity to play one but have always wanted too. IMO they all look killer minus the headstock logo. Not a deal breaker, just an observation.

You don't want to be too clear because people don't see you and will walk right into you... sorry just being transparent here
