Sire V7 5 String (Ash/Maple) vs Lakland 55-01

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Murph_Orpheus, Mar 13, 2016.

  1. Anyone played or owned both of these that can give an opinion or a comparison? I've been wanting a 55-01 for some time but watching videos of the 5 string Sire with the swamp ash body and maple neck make it sound like it could do everything the 55-01 does but at a cheaper price range. Are they in the same ball park tone wise?

I have never played a Sire ..... I think the 55-01 is a good instrument. I think the stock pre in the Sire mway be better than the stock pre in the 55-01. From what I have heard it is quite nice. My 55-01 came modded with an LH3 pre and I upgraded it to an Audere but from what I have heard the stock pre in the 55-01 is the weak link.
