    Hy,
I'm a father of a 16 years old boy, who recently decided to start to play bass guitar. He's playing guitar for some time in a school band, and he seems to be quite smart in this.
My son suggested me two guitars from which to choose one, the would like to purchase, in about the similar price range of 300 Euro.
One is: Sire Marcus Miller V3, 2nd Gen. and the other is Ibanez SR300E.
If you were me, which one would you choose? Or do you have any other recommendation?
I'd appreciate all comments, many thanks!
(sorry for my English, it's not my first language)

Received a gift from Sire* (see sig)
Tough choice, both are good values. I'm sure others will suggest additional choices. (Not necessarily making the job of choosing any easier.) ;) Good luck!

  3. Ibanez SR basses are the most ergonomically designed and comfortable basses I have owned. The necks are slim, the bodies beautifully contoured and lightweight. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one for a beginner.

La Sire V3 est plus complète et évolutive.

I would favor the Sire, but Ibanez basses are fine.

Thank you for all comments, we recently managed to buy a second-hand Sire V7 for a good bargain-price of a new V3, and we are quite happy with it.

  7. Pretty much what Cheese said. Gatorbaits (my son) first bass was an Ibanez. He played that one for about 4 years. Then He picked up a Sire. The Ibby has been sitting in the basement ever since. You can't go wrong with either one but I think my personal preference would also be the Sire.
