I'm looking to replace the soapbars in my Yamaha BBG4S, which i believe have a split coil config. These things are 1.5 inches by 4.5 inches...

My problem is that most replacement pick makers only make six string pickups in this size.
Would these be appropriate to put in my bass?
Is the tonality of six string pickups different?
Is the shape of the coil different?

Any info would be much appreciated.
  2. Split-coil pickups probably won't work with that setup, but there's no reason that dual-coils won't.

I have split coil pickups. They're just in soapbar shape. I could get another set of split coils if i wanted...
  4. Actually, you're right. The Duncan soapbars, or a set of EMG-45Ps, would work. The BB basses, IIRC, have too small of a fingerboard radius for Bartolini split-coil soapbars to work properly.
