IMO ska has some of the best basslines there are. What are some ska songs with good basslines?
Well since Ska is a massive chasm encompassing many different eras, new-skool ones like RX Bandits and Mighty Mighty Bosstones are fun. You can also check out Potshot, a Japanese ska-punk band, with some really good lines.
Any Five Iron Frenzy song
MMB: The Impression That I Get
RX Bandits: Who Would Have Thought or Consequential Apathy
By "good" you mean catchy:
Most of Slapstick's catalogue.(First song that comes to mind:"Metalhead in the Parking lot")
A good deal of LTJ's middle period
The Pilfers ("Agua", "Mr. Exploita")
The Chinkees ("Asian Prodigy")
The list goes on and on. Ska is a lesson is dancibility.
Less Than Jake
Five Iron Frenzy
Everything mentioned so far are good choices. I would add:
The New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble
Jeffrey's Fan Club
forgot to add "Skankin Pickle"
Yeah, gotta love Skankin pickle.
i mean more of just good licks, not exactly good songs or bands, i know my bands, just lines that make you feel good, fun to play, and just sound awesome. im think two tone or 3rd wave ska...
+ 1 for LTj... especially Johnny Quest
or Capdown - Ska Wars
superman by goldfinger. I think thats ska right? well that song kinda worked itself into my brain after the hours and hours spent at my playstation on tony hawk pro skater. you know, THPS wasn't all that bad, when you think about it. I was intro'd to primus with that game, i'm kinda glad i was.
I don't like ska, that's just a vicious rumor!
Nothing to see here, move along!
