I'm looking for excercises to improve my dexterity and playing skill. I've been playing for a few years already, but I feel like I'm stuck somewhere in the middle and want to improve it.

    I'll welcome any advice.

  2. Hi Flambeu. Nice to see you on the board.

I'm in a similar position to you. I'm coming back to the bass after a 25 year lay-off.

I think, whilst not altogether inspirational, finger exercises are well worth the effort. I take the view that if I can't put my fingeres on the bass where I - or who ever wrote the song - intend them to be placed I'm never gonna be able to play the piece.

There are those who say that it's the feel of the music that counts rather than the technical skill. True. But if I can't put my fingers on the bass.....

I've developed a few exercises of my own. But having visited www.activebass.com I'm more inclined to follow their advice.
