Pull the string and let it go, so that it hit's the fingerboard, then hit the string against the fingerboard with your hand (boomclick-click)
Pull the string and let it go, so that it hit's the fingerboard, then hit the string against the fingerboard with your hand two times (boomclick- click-click)

BTW: KEEP YOUR ARM RELAXED! Don't try to do it with brute force. Relax.
And seriously, take a look at the rockabillybass.com messageboard!
BTW: Most people prefer gut strings for slappin'.
If you wanna stick to steel, I'd personally (!) recommend Corelli 390TX (solo tuning) pitched down to orchestra.
I love those strings. Pretty affordable, too.
