Just received a new Human Base BaseX.oc 4 from The Perfect Bass and it is amazing.

There is one slight problem with it though- the strap button on the upper horn looks as if it were installed slightly crooked. It seems solid enough, but it is on an angle from the install point and the screw is slightly visible because there is a gap between one of the faces and the horn of the bass.

I guess I have two questions:

    A) Should I go about trying to re-install it properly myself?

    B) Should I mention something to the guys at TPB and see what can be done about it, or at least some type of compensation for the issue?

They are great guys over there, and gave me a heck of a deal, but I still was under the assumption that this wouldn't have any issues.

I would consult the company first. That way you don't void the warranty or anything like that.
    Good luck!

I normally fix that kind of thing my my self, but on a new bass, speak to the reseller. They may want it back to be fixed or they may shoot you a GC or some freebies to make you go away.;):D

Why screw up a new expensive bass if you are uncomfortable doing the fix?

It really isn't TOO bad of a fix. Would you recommend filling the old hole with some wood putty, then drilling a new pilot hole and just screwing it back in?

  6. I just had a look at some on their site. Looks like they angle it deliberately, but it normally ends up looking better. Have a look, you'll see what I mean.

There is an angle, but it is MUCH more flush.

I'd recommend contacting Tyler Salwender at Human Base USA. He's awesome and has been very helpful with my questions! www.humanbaseusa.com

They got back to me nice and quick.

They offered to fix it up under warranty, but after speaking with Praxis, it seems it really is less of a defect and more of just part of the style. Although it is SLIGHTLY less aligned than it could be, it is plenty solid and shouldn't be a problem at all.

Chances are, more damage would be done by the climate and delivery service going from NJ to CA (and back) than this small issue, so I'm just going to leave it be, or if anything try to just fix it up myself (if it really poses an issue...).

Thanks for posting. I had GAS for one of those. I'm cured now.

    No more GAS?

I really recommend trying one- this bass is amazing, despite this tiny little issue.

I do not know if this helps but I had the same kind of problem from mine when I got it from TPB, I used rubber washers the same size as the felt piece before and after the felt and if gave me enough clearence so I could get my dual design Dulop Straplok in place. I hope this helps!

    Peace,
