CAn you put anything on hte back of a fender mim 4 string jazz neck so its smoother and easiert to move like on a snowboard teh wax people put on, something like that?
It's probably not the best thing for it, but I will occasionally use a green 3M pad and just run it across the back of the neck a few times.... It works for me, and it will take the finish of, but I haven't seen enough come of to really worry about it.... [email protected]
Someone suggested 600grit sandpaper to me here a while ago - just a little roughing up every few months.
chicken grease, definitely chicken grease. or maybe bacon, it's kinda a grease of choice thing. chicken grease, fish grease (might smell bad but hey it's your bass), bacon grease, face grease (just in case you're either going through puberty or taking anabolic steroids)
I love Tung oil necks. Striping the existing finish off can usually be done with a green scrubby pad. IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. However once thats done a few coats of Tung oil seperated by some light steel wool and you can have a neck that feels like its coated in silk for about $10 in oil and steel wool. In most cases as long as the wood has some sort of finish on it it should be OK if otherwise properly maintained. I live in New England where the temp in my music room will get to 100 in the summer and 35 in the winter and I never have to make big adjustments to necks coated with tung oil.
chicken must be a very bassey thing...didn't mingus eat a lot of it? i think muddy waters sang about it too....hmm......
as long as it started off with "i woke up this morninig" or "on the day i was born" muddy sang about it.
hey muddy is a cool guy, and so did jim morrison sing about it, didn't he eat more chicken than man ever seen hey hey??
