I was restringing my bass with Slowounds yesterday, and noticed the chart on the string packaging doesn't match the actual string..

Mainly, it said the A was the 'red' one, except it was a lot thicker then the E string (Which is 'brass', but I concluded from looking at the packaging that it was Blue..)

I swapped the two since the "red" string was thicker then the "blue" string..

    Anyone else encounter this?

The color coded strings pictured on the packaging are for specific gauges of strings. If you buy a set of Slowounds that have different gauges than the strings that D'Addario prints on their package, then the color coded ball ends and silks will be different.
  3. The colorcode on the Slowoundspackage actually refers to the XL strings! Kinda stupid if you ask me.
