I was thinking of getting an SM500 to replace my SM400S just for the added benefit of the tuner out and sidechain effects loop. Then I thought mabye the WT 400 might work while also cutting a few pounds of my rack.Just dont know if the 400 watts of the WT400 compared to 550 watts of the SM500-400S would make much of a difference volume wise.I would be using it to drive a Henry the 8x8 and would be playing a Stingray Five.A service guy from SWR told me that I should get a Bass 750/750X to drive my Henry but i'm kind of scared of overpowering those eights. They already move alot with 500 watts.Any advice on this matter would be appreciated.I wish eden made a 5 to 600 watt head that could be bridged into 4 ohms.

I honestly think you would be spending money for no real difference in tone or volume. You have to double your wattage to get a 3 DB increase in volume (not that much louder). So other than the increased headroom the 750 would give you there is not that much benefit to the switch.

I'll let you know my thoughts when I get my SM500 this week. I bought the Bass750 and it was nice, but I doubt the difference in Watts will be that noticable. I sent the Bass750 back because I wanted more EQ options and the greater flexibility of the SM500.
