Looking for a good but small (MXR, TC) DI box to fit on or even under the pedalboard, what would you suggest?

    Countryman not that big

  3. I can't speak to its quality but I know Mooer makes a tiny DI pedal.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

The Countryman is I'm sure great but I wouldn't mind something smaller, at least not as high, as I'll try to fit it under the board.

The Mooer is the right size, but I have not seen any reports yet on the sound quality.

I just may buy the Mooer regardless if nothing else as small shows up. The use I'm thinking of is as a spare DI in case the amp fails and I have to quickly go direct from the pedalboard. So I'd only use the parallel out most of the time anyway. If it actually is wired directly from the input, that is, you can't tell really, looks like it may be a processed signal from the looks of the box.

The Whirlwind "Imp" passive direct box is in an MXR type enclosure, everything else seems to be in a bigger box.

Depends on how big your board is, but most smallish DIs have side-mounted jacks, so to mount it under your board it would have to fit w/ the longest dimension b/w the rails.

If space is a premium, you might also consider putting an extra DI on your amp (you could velcro into the back of your rack or on your amp). Alternatively, if you already use a preamp pedal, using one w/ a DI out is about as space-saving as you'll get.

Check with Radial. I hear they have some mini DIs now.

    Thanks, I'll take a look.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do use a separate pedal on the amp now, an EBS Microbass, but I'd like to lose that one and have a cleaner setup with everything on the pedalboard. My two-tier board has some room between the shelves, I have squeezed in an [sfx] micro Thumpinator as input, and thought I'd do the same using something like the Mooer micro DI as output from the board.

    I'll check Radial, thanks.

    Yes, the new Stagebug

Not easy to find in stores yet, at least in Europe. It's months I've been searching for demos or infos about. A few days ago, I found this:

They're perfect for a pedaltrain mini.

Thanks for the suggestion. The Stagebug looks nice, but unfortunately the placement of the jacks doesn't work for where I want it on my board.

Maybe I'll have to ditch this idea and keep using a separate box by the amp instead.

And I'm not sure they're presently available, at least not in the Montreal-area shop that carries an otherwise full Mooer line.

You got one out of two right - not bad, but no cigar. :)

the Palmer Junction (PDI-09) is a pretty small box, and it's got a speaker sim (maybe desirable to you or not?)

Palmer looks interesting, thanks, will do some Googleing on those.

  17. The Rolls passive is almost too small. It might be phantom power only but worth a look.

Thanks, had forgotten about Rolls, they have a lot of these utility boxes. The Matchbox DI looked like a candidate, but the frequency response isn't so good for bass - 50-15k. I'll browse their catalog though, there might be some other model.
