Sounds like a misinformed writer. Apparently a plot element was that a bass in a suspects' apartment indicates a female owner, and for some reason they picked a rick. They shoulda used a Daisy Rock, but I guess the writer really liked the Elvis/Elvis Costello line.
I've never seen Elvis Costello playing any kind of bass.
Once upon a time I owned a poster of EC playing an upright--or at least holding one. So I suppose it's not impossible.
Oooo, this is a rare clip from the Detective Briscoe and Green bass guitar review show!
I guess those guys think that real men play Fenders. What boneheads.
I'm a real man and I play Fender...
I remember that episode. There are plenty of examples where it appears that Hollywood writers believe the gen pop are stupid.
Example: SVU - A petite woman; first time handling/shooting a handgun. Desert Eagle (50cal) in hand and ripping off in quick succession; showing virtually no kick-up.
