Do you think that it would be a good idea in order to make a mim p bass look less cheap (sunburst) by using sandpaper to take off the gloss on the outside? Its really starting to bug me plus i think it would look way more vintage an cool especially if i bought a matte black pickgaurd

  2. The polyurethane finish is next to impossible to strip that way. Sanding it will give you one of three results:

    1) Carpal Tunnel
    2) A scratched up finish
    3) If you actually get this far... the paint underneath the finish is very, very thin, and will look miserable assuming you can get it anywhere close to even (which you can't)

A full can of Jasco might get most of it off W/lots of elbow grease. You'll hate life after you start this endeavor. There is no sanding poly off.

    It's not a Mexican problem, it's a poly problem.
