    For me it's easy. I'm not a professional musician. (I'd probably starve relying on my talent). I'm a mid level executive in the world's largest company.

  3. I work as an environmental protection officer for the city of Vancouver BC... Thats where my dollar comes from.

    I work for the Department of Defense as a woodcrafter/structural insulator/plastics fabricator for the Navy...and my gigs actually pay for my gear (my work pays for my house and van and my kids and my wife and credit cards and wife's credit cards and this is starting to get PRETTY UGLY SO I SHOULD STOP RIGHT NOW AND THINK OF MY HAPPY PLACE....{music store...music store...music store...music store} - thanks, I'm feeling much better now.

    i pay for my gear with gigs.



    of course, i eat nothing but BestYet groceries...



    but at least i've got gear :D

    I only buy gear with money I make from gigging, All the other living expenses comes from a full time job.

    pretty much all the money i make with my gigs goes right back into my "bass gear fund".

    Work part-time minimal wage for 3 months and you got yourself a bass, or a stack. Have no bills to pay besides insurance and gas.

    I do custom software support for a giant soft drink/salty snack conglomerate.

    My funds come from numerous sources, mowing the lawn in the summer, keeping my room clean and taking out the trash, birthday and Christmas money, and my annual bass playing job (playing in the pit band for 2 plays)

    this summer i'm working part-time for my dad's company, this is funding a new bass. when school starts i'll have to find a new job. but if i cant find one, i'll have t make do woth the gear i have.
