laying around at this point not being used. So I was thinking of purchasing a loaded body in the near future to assemble something different. Since I live in a small town on Canada's East Coast (Nova Scotia) I am limited to what basses I can noodle with at Long & MaQuade which is over 60 miles away. I am thinking of purchasing either a loaded Fender Black Top Jazz body...a Fender Modern Player Jazz body OR a Fender Blacktop Precision body. (all 4 stringers) Can any one "describe" to me the "sound" of these different bass bodies...I am looking for thunderous lows when they are played.. Thank you for any input.. L. Potter
I gotta throw in for the Blacktop Jazz. It doesn't growl, it roars! It's easily the most aggressive passive bass (passive-aggressive? ) I've ever played, let alone owned. Check out the reviews of it, along with the Blacktop Precision, at the club listed in my signature. In the meantime, here's an audio clip cut by fellow TB'er, @audiomitch, of a BT Jazz played with a pick. (dig that sustain!) https://app.box.com/s/0giiip2y1612vfjh9dix
Huh, no kidding? Now if only I had some discretionary funds, I'd offer to go half-and-half on some kind of bass with a maple fretboard.
Fortunately.. I have a VMJ 70's neck that I think would look great on a (Black) Blacktop Jazz body... BUT I already have 2 Jazz basses (Geddy Lee and a Squier VMJ 70's) But I guess in reality you can never have too many P Basses or Jazz's for that matter.
Thank you very much for the info..just what I was looking for.. I still want a P Bass Special body some day....
Oh, Laurie…how quaint a sentiment. Surely, you must know there are… …far more… …convoluted ways… …to muddy those waters, yes? But to be more direct, I suppose you are correct.
Fenders....Squiers and Aerodynes..... Oh my! Yeah,,I have seen the Beast before.(You lucky bugger!) I drool everytime I see that P Bass Special. There is something about that slate grey color...love it.
Want me to give you a heads-up next time I see a P-Bass Special or a Jazz in that color config? I spot one every now and then, but no longer need either.
