Just had to share the "nice ash" on my 77 Jazz. A true Marcus w/o the pre-amp. She's headed with me to my two gigs this weekend. Oh yes, it's going to be a great weekend!

    OMG Quad...

You have way to many basses....LOL

Stoked for you she looks great...
How does it sound and play?

Man, sounds and plays great. She still has the original pots and pups dated in 1977. Very warm, but with a nice top-end zing (without sounding clanky). Neck is very straight. Weight is very reasonable for a 70's ash bodied Fender, about 9.5 lbs.

I've been stuck on P's and Musicman basses lately. This is my visit back to J territory. Hoping for the best! If any J is going to win me back, it will be this one!

Baird6869 RIP Gord Downey. A True Canadian Icon.

    Nice!

My 1997 Jazz (same as yours but with a RW/inlay neck) was a beastly 12.5-13lbs. I sold it as it killed my back to play on gigs.

    Enjoy yours!:bassist:

I'm curious how this compares to your 75RI

If you get a chance let us know.

Man, don't have the RI anymore. I pretty much got away from J's for a bit and the one or two I have had here have just been sitting. This one intrigued me so I grabbed it.

From memory, the RI was not as warm sounding.

  15. that's sweet quad. Love 70's bound and blocked necks
