  1. To ask about getting new pickups for my Squire P-bass. I got them priced and the guy showed me a Fender Jazz bass so I tried it out. Alot better than my Squire if I say so myself. He priced it at 481.36
Well I decided to wait and go check out reviews for it on Musicians Friend. I find that the lefty rics are gonna come in on the 6 of sept (which a day or so ago said until 09') and is being sold at 1399. Ive never played a ric, but I love their sound and have searched these threads about rics so ive done my homework.
I just wanna know what you guys think.

not sure what the question is.
  3. Sorry, should I go for the Fender or save a little bit more for the Ric?

Play a Ric first, then decide.

The Jazz is a known commodity (since you said you liked it) and it very inexpensive. The Ric is an unknown commodity (just because love their sound doesn't mean you will love playing one) and is very expensive. My answer is....

Get the Jazz AND save for the Ric. Might take a little longer to get the Ric in your hands this way, but at least you'll have the Jazz in the meantime.
  6. I would play a ric but the closest place that sells a ric in a store is about 4 hours away from where I live.

And getting the jazz does sound like the smarter thing to do. And what does the GAS thing mean, ive seen it mentioned but have no idea what it is?

+1 , go for the jazz , save up for the ric , 1399 is a lot of money , get the jazz and you will have a decent bass to play while you save up for the ric

GAS is exactly what you have - gear acquisition syndrome. We 'need' what we don't have. I would say go for the J and save your money. I know there are many who love the Ric, but I play a jazz, and really don't like the feel of a Ric. That's just me though.

They're getting lefty Rics in less than a month? Man, I'd take that any day over a MexiJazz.....

GAS stands for Gear Acquisition Syndrome.
  11. Well, it's more than "a little bit" difference between a Fender Standard, and the due date for Rics are hugely flacky - for example, at Zzounds.com the next ones come in Wednesday June 25th, 2008.

You might want to upgrade to the MIM Jazz - you'll have pleanty of time to save up. ;)

I'd buy the Fender and forget about the Ric, but this is coming from a guy who owns three Fender's and has never really considered buying a Ric.

Righty-o, and there's two kinds of musicans - thems what admits to having it and thems what lies about it.
  14. Thanks guys, Ill get the jazz then. In the mean time ill try to hunt down a rick to try out.
