so if I get this... what pickguard?

    Not really digging the black guard though... any other ideas?

    Brown tort to match the neck. Not red tort.

    gold anodized would make it look like a period correct 1958 P.

    But I would actally go for mint green, or parchment. It would lighten-up the bass and be fresh and original.

    Personally, I would avoid tort because this butterscotch is more of a 50's colour than a 60's colour. i'd only put tort on olympic white, black, or 3 tone sunburst.

    just my 2 cents.

    but really, id go for a brown pick guard

    It won't be "period correct" anyway since it has a 13-screw pickguard.

    I think the '58 had a maple neck, I think rosewood was '59 or '60. This butterscotch finish is neither '50s or '60s. I have that same bass, white or parchment actually look really gross. Tort actually looks awesome, and the black looks good too. Add a chrome bridge and pickup cover set, and Bob's yer uncle.
