Thanks, good buddy! I was guessing that, but I'm not fluent in French. (My mother tongue is New Jersey...)
Yeah, man! Turkey Loose on the Kit, too. D-Code... whew! IMO, that live recording at Club de Montreal is an education.
Close, but with very little emphasis on the 'N' sounds: in Quebec, the final syllable of his first and last name would be nearly inaudible, something like A-LE KER-OH. Great player, at any rate.
if you go to Fbass web site, George pronounes his name several times while describing his signature bass...btw...The AC is just a killer bass!!\imo
he does a cool markbass demo (30 min) on his new sig amp and he starts off by intrioducing himself. Check it on youtube.
Aleh Karon is my read. As for his slap stuff check out an article in Bass Player Mag. Interesting technique he uses.
One of my favorites from UZEB days. I think The Final Concert DVD is still available. I first heard Live at Bracknell when I was touring Canada in 1983 and all he was playing was fretless. I became a fanatical UZEB fan and then an Alain fan. He's truly a bad**s!
Not one of his flashiest bass songs, but I think S.E.C has got to be my favorite song by him. It's on the first Leband album.
Yeah, with the fingers curled completely under the palm. My tendency is to keep my right hand more open, old school slap style. Been trying Caron's way out, but it doesn't come naturally... (Old dog, new trick, some assembly required.) I can see advantages to it, like popping on the lower strings.
