My band Zero Point Zero zeropointzerouk were booked to play a gig tonight with 2 bands from Spain who were touring the UK.

So we turn up unload our gear and the venue had house cabs so we just needed to use our heads.
We sound check everything sounded really good, We were happy with it so we start to move our gear ready for the next band to sound check.

At that point a person from one of the Spanish bands ( I'm not going to name them and give them promotion). Asks if they can use our equipment. Now we're not mean with gear but we've never met these guys before and if we were told that this was going to happen beforehand we wouldn't have taken the gig. So we said no sorry that's not going to happen.

Next thing they pick up their guitars (they actually bought their own) and leave in a strop. Sarcastically saying thank you to us as they leave.

So that just leaves our band left at this point someone comes running in saying someone has been stabbed outside. Sure enough police everywhere and the entrance to the venue is cordoned off so no one can come in and that's the final nail for this gig. Seeing as no one can come to watch us and everything else we may as well pack up and go.

The cherry on the cake was as we were loading out. We spot a young dude absolutely stoned off his face standing, swaying and staring off into the distance and the best part is he is randomly got a toilet seat under his arm.

Honestly you couldn't write a script like this no one would believe it. Also why you would tour without any amps? Or at least have something arranged is quite beyond me.

PS On a serious note I read in the local news the guy who was stabbed was stabbed twice and is in a critical condition hope he pulls through and hope the police catch the **** who did it.

That's a rough one. Reminds me of a gig I did awhile ago where the police set up a DUI check point in front of the club and used the parking lot as their staging area. Not a soul in the place all night.

And THAT’S exactly what I’ve always wanted to go to the UK. Never a dull moment.

I used to play at a dive in the late 60's .. the club owner would always let underage girls in to keep the place packed.. Once in a while the police would raid the joint and escort all the under age out.. Then we ended playing to an empty room. No girls = no guys = no crowd. We were lucky, the police tried to take our organ player who at the time was 16. We told them he was with the band working.

i started at age 14 in dive bar in indy: underage musicians were allowed to play if "the stage was in a different room than the bar." which merely meant that the tavern owner place a 'rope' (or ribbon!) around the stage area to separate the bar and stage into "two rooms."
