So, just what IS the deal with Britney Spears, then?

I try to block out this kind if crap, not use any brain bandwidth on it, I really do. But damn, everywhere I turn, online, on TV, at the grocery store, all this hand wringing about her conservatorship, her competency, as if the fate of the western world rests on the outcome. Can’t get away from it. Wasn’t she a trainwreck/negligent mother decades ago? Didn’t she grow up? Why now? I just need the condensed notes, so I can just mumble a Pete Davidson/Chad “OK”, and then tune it out again. Has the whiney Youtube kid weighed in? Seriously, what the Federline?

She has a lot of money.
She made mistakes and/or emotional issues and lost/gave up control of it.
Now the people who are in control of her millions want to stay in control of it which means keeping her away from her money ( in her “best interest” of course) while they make out like [the] thieves [they are]
IIRC, she’s basically being pimped out by her dad, who keeps her working while he is collecting the paycheck.
as always, I could be wrong... but I don’t care about it enough to necessarily be right...

Yeah, basically this. There’s a documentary about it on (IIRC) Netflix. It’s short and could be worth a watch if you’re bored and have any interest.

Didn't think she was still performing, but holy crap has she grossed some crazy money over the last decade. Makes more sense how power of attorney or whatever would be a VERY lucrative privilege to have. Not sure how one would get out of that.

EDIT: Netflix one doesn't seem to be out yet. Says Hulu has one at the moment though.

  6. This was my understanding of it. I've got a tendency to not care, I'm not a fan and I'm not surprised that people in or around Showbiz are scumbags - but this situation seems an almost unique kind of low.

This is kind of my take on it. She's probably being exploited. But all I know is what I see online.

it's some wild stuff! she's been naive, careless, and maybe dangerous at times and her daddy sounds greedy, controlling, and maybe vindictive.

i voted "free britney!" unless she's messing in her diapers = she has as much right to fail as the rest of us. :D

TBH: i haven't examined any details --- just paying some attention to the popular, mainstream media.

    Free Brittany!!!!

Seriously, all kinds of rock/pop stars have done MUCH worse than she did and got to retain control of their fortunes. There is ZRRO reason for her not to be able to make her own choices.

This is is conspiracy. Period. No judge would play along with this BS without a fat paycheck.

I’d wear a “free Britney” t-shirt, she’s less nuts than a few of my exes.

I met someone who worked on her Vegas show. They had to remind her to take her medication or else she'd start acting crazy.

And don't forget, she burned down part of her house a few months back.

Prejudice doesn’t enter into it, but on the other hand, agenda driven reactionary alarmist exploitation doesn’t work for me.
