So, its new bass time once again! I need something that can get really smooth and non-attacking when the tone is rolled off, but can get very growly. Would a Jaguar do this? Or even a Deluxe Standard Jazz?

Ok, thanks! I thought I saw one today, but it actually turned out to be a Jazz Plus! I got confused with the stacked knob in the different position!

How about a Sterling H/S. Great range of tones there.
I was underwhelmed by the Jag Bass, but Justin Meldal-Johnsen gets some growl and thump out of his Jag on the NIN tour.
