Guess I wanted to re-live the glory days of my youth, replacing my original '66 Mustang that was sadly stolen in '72. I've been through dozens and dozens of basses in as many decades, settling in on Sadowskys and Alembics as my go-to's. But I was looking for a short scale, quality, semi-custom, FUN bass to play out with and this fell into my hands.

Gibson SG Standard Bass, Hammond Darkstar pickups, Hipshot Supertone bridge, 30.5" scale, set neck, Grover tuners.
These SG's were a limited edition run and a huge improvement on their original predecessors. (not to be confused with the Epiphone versions).
V-V-T pots are easier & quicker to control, zero neck dive and custom dual Darkstars modeled after 60's Guilds. The Hipshot 3 point bridge is a direct replacement, allowing for substantially improved action and intonation.
Plays like butter, nearly as easy as an SG guitar. Massive tone, super lightweight and fun as all get-out.
