    Hi guys,

I was wondering if it would be possible to fit a EMG soapbar or similar into the "swimming pool" routing of a MIM jazz bass.

or, would a P pickup fit?

I did the measurments, and i think the routing is about 40mm by 80mm

    anyone done this before?(without routing)

    The 4 string EMG soapbar (EMG-35) is 88.9mm X 38.1mm. (3.5" X 1.5")

So you would have to rout the hole bigger.

P pickups are in two halves, and differently wouldn't fit without routing.

There might be some Bartolini pickups that fit.

yes, but could you put them in a row rather than a split P config?

They wouldn't fit next to each other and still have the magnets aligned properly under the strings. This is why they are staggered.

There are Jazz pickups that use a split configuration however, such as the DiMarzio Model J, some Bartolini J's, and others.
