Guys any of you have changed a Gibson /Epiphone bridge with something more practical? wich bridge? suggestion?
I haven't done it, but I've thought about it. Big question is whether the bass you're talking about has a flat top or is curved (like some of the hollowbodies). As long as it's flat, the badass or several others should work -- ou just need to make sure the string height is comparable. I've noticed that the new T-bird studio version has a normal-looking bridge instead of the typical, weird old gibson one, for instance.
Flat top of an Eb0. and wath about the remainent holes of the bridge, the side ones? Do the badass cover them?
I had an EB-0 years ago, and I refinished it (allright, never mind! ). I put a DiMarzio Model 1 as a replacement, P'up, and a Badass as a replacement bridge. Not BasdassII, but the smaller, chunkier one. I do recall that the holes that used to accomodate the old bridge did peek out from the sides of the Badass. Nothing to be done about it. It was worth it, though. I liked that bass.
Yup, I've seen the BAI on a Tbird before, a white one, looked to be one of the early ('89-'94) reissues. You could see the holes from the old bridge from the sides. If you got the badass II you'd probably have to lower the pups some, Im not sure if it would cover the holes though, I personally like the look of the BAII, but theres something about that Gibson bridge I love.
If you look up a builder or two, you'll find that you could get one cast for your bass, if you wanted to go that route.
