just found this link by accident: http://www.audiffex.com/EN/gallien.html

    also interesting: http://www.audiffex.com/EN/intone.html

does anybody here use this software/plug-ins and could tell us little more about it?

i´m really into software-fx and trying all possibilities like GuitarRig5, AmpliTube3, Plogue Bidule, etc. ... i think software is really catching up from version to version. any additional thoughts?

  2. Check this thread out. It isn't long yet but there is some info http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f36/anyone-using-midi-bass-using-laptop-fx-890106/
My buddy (MSUsousaphone aka FunkMastah B) is going the laptop and software route. I am sure his misadventures will be informative. I was lucky enough to score a MidiBase, but it will essentially be used as a Bass Synth (with softsynths and hardware synths). I also have a Roland VB-99 coming (not software and computer, I know, but still a step towards that direction.

There is another longer thread but most of the info is a bit older.

I use it. I found that Audiffex were selling a copy of everything for $11 each on Nigel Tufnel Day (11/11/11). See, there IS a purpose in blowing all day on the internet!

I really like it a lot, as do a couple of my very skilled and highly-regarded peers. It does a pretty good job of replicating the G-K's signature growl. Mine is plugged into Logic, as is Amplitube3.

These softwares are indeed getting better, and Amplitube's Custom Shop a-la-carte pricing is really helpful and a great business model. However, they're still best suited for bedroom recording and studio cleanups; live use still needs transistors, valves and electron movement ;)

i believe so ... i consider software amp/cab simulations as effects

You may want to post it in the "recording" forum, as it is generally associated with recording software.

  7. Or what?
I think this is perfectly acceptable here. It is modeling. Lots of multi effects pedal have amp modeling. Even the VT Bass is an amp modeler of sorts.
