Does anyone know why my recorded wav file would sound signifigantly different to what I am hearing while monitoring real-time? My signal chain is:

    J-Bass > SansAmb BDDI > Mixer > Echo MIA 24/96 Card > Cubase SX

I Love my tone when I'm monitoring, but when I listen to the recorded track, my tone is flat. Is this a limitation of Cubase SX? Can bass frequency response be different depending on which software your using? Even after EQing the hell out of my track it sounds dry and flat compared to what I'm monitoring. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Where in the chain do you do your monitoring?

There was huge discussion over Cubase VST, people reported exactly what you were experiencing. But Cubase SX put that to rest AFAIK, I haven't heard about this problem with SX.

Maybe you should try to change the pan law to 0 dB.

Project -> project settings -> stereo pan mode

You can also try the forum at www.cubase.net
I guess you'll find enough info there.
