    BASS IS SOLD

    -------------------------
    Plays really good

    Very light for a 70s P-Bass!

    Excellent string to string tone & volume balance!

    No issues...

    Lots of fret life left and I recently had a pro-setup done on it

    No buzzing, humming, etc

    Truss rod works very good

    The only reason I am selling this is I need to move to NYC ASAP and need money. I have other gear for sale here too, I really didnt want to sell this bass but the other stuff is not selling quick enough.

    ------------------------------
    Serial on neck plate: 624939

    137= CTS Pot
    74=year
    38 week
    -------------------------------
    Pick-Up Code: 05375

    75
    ----------------------------
    Neck Code: 01040654

    * 01 = Precision Bass
    * 04 = A neck fretted rosewood
    * 40 = Week 40
    * 5 = 1975
    * 4 = Thursday
    -------------------------------

    I do believe the bass to be 100% original!

    The included case appears to be a late 60s or 70s model Fender case. I am not sure if it went with this bass originally but it is in very good condition and looks right to me.. If you dont want the case I'll reduce the price a little. It'll give me something to rember the bass with :(

    $1600 local

    $1650 shipped

    Any questions?

    P.S.
    At one time I am told this was owned by Bob Babbitt. His signature is on the headstock. I bought this from a pro bassist I met while on tour. He has used this bass on many studio sessions for Tv, Film, etc. He had this bass for along time and he told me he originaly purchased this bass from Eldery Instruments who had got bought the bass from Bob Babbitt. The bassist I got it from left his name/phone number on a card in the case and said to call him if I ever wanted to sell it back but I've lost the number. Fair game to talkbass members I guess!

    Well, if this is the same one he played in Standing in the Shadows of Motown the tone is fat and sweet! I wish I had the scratch for it, fa sho. If anyone wants to buy someone they don't know a Christmas gift. . .

    Is the nut width on the #4 neck 1.5 or 1.75?

    oh my, I was wondering why the neck type was 04 and not 00 or 01

    THIS BASS HAS A 'A NECK" !

    'A' neck for a P bass is 1 9/16"

    This bass measures 1 9/16", I just measured it for the first time!

    my 76 MAPLE A neck is '06'

    I guess the code for ROSEWOOD 'A' neck is '04'

    no proof of provenance. An if he ever used it it wasn't much. Anyone who wants to really know can ask Babbit himself on his website.

    I am not claiming anything about Bob Babbitt playing the bass, just repeating the story I got from the previous seller. Half of the story at least checks out, as I’ve had several people tell me they remember the bass being at elderly instruments. I was told he briefly used it on a tour. With who, when, etc I don’t know but its besides the point… all of that has nothing to do with the price I am selling the bass for as there is no way I can guarantee anything.

    I should at least tell the story I 've been told considering his signature is on the headstock! I'd get a quite alot of people asking about it if I didnt give an explanation!
