Hi. Today I sold my Nemesis NA-320 head and my Eden 112XL cab. I got home and plugged my old Ampeg B50-R combo. Now my playing is a bit erratic because the sound coming from the amp is not what I am expecting to hear. Anyone have this happen? Thanks
What are you saying, the 2 amps sound different? Yeah, most do. What's that got to do with your playing? Btw, I like the Rocket bass amps.
I know they sound different but I was not expecting to be a technique changing thing. I love the Rocket amp. I used it to play rock when I bought and had it in storage. I guess I don't remember the creamy midrange tone.
I love the sound of my Rocket combo (B50-R) more than anything else I've played. I did however cut my teeth on it so that may be the cause. I like it so much however, that I use it as the pre to my SVT4 and pretty much use that as a power amp. Rocket combo as monitor/pre, 4-Pro into an old cab from a B3158(1x15,1x8) this is about as good as I can ever hope for.
I get what you're saying. When I got my latest rig, I had to get used to hearing myself in a different way. I don't know that it directly effected my actual technique, but I did have to relearn some songs that I got away with flubbing through before because I used to be able to hide in the mix! And in most of those cases, I didn't even realize that I was playing the stuff a little off. You'll get used to it in time. Then you'll get bored with the rig and look for something new!
Sometimes, I have found, that a new piece of equipment has inspired me to places I would not have expected to go. I see no reason for that place to be a positive or a negative direction. Paul
