How much do you worry about your amp tone when practicing by yourself?

I rarely break out the bass rig for practice at home. I just run straight through a cheap mixer. I find that what sounds good at home is not what sounds good in a band setting. So using the rig at home to "find my tone" isn't going to work.

I thought of getting a practice amp, but the mixer is more useful and colours the sound less than a cheap practice amp would.

The only tone I worry about at home is the tone that is being directly effected by my playing style. Other than than, my beater bass and 16W Kustom amp are fine for practicing, and I don't get picky about tone.
  3. im pretty bad for wanting a nice sounding rig with home practice, i usually use my whole stack :bag:

well, i guess its either that or a 15 watt guitar amp, need to get a small combo at some point . . . maybe
