Today I tuned my bass to solo tuning for the first time. It realy messes with my ear. I love it though. I noticed that it seams to add a few harmonics on the string and makes harmonics clearer to hit past the finger board. Is there suposed to be a harmonic between the middle harmonic between the middle G harmonic and the D harmonic? or D and A? or the rest of the strings?
  2. Did you use solo strings? If you tune up regular orchestra strings, it's very bad for the strings and your tailpiece.

please tell us you used solo strings!
  4. My first thought as well:p

As for the harmonic between G and D, yeah. It's a B that's an octave higher than what sounds when you put your finger down on the string. It's a good anchor for the Koussevitsky concerto in the first movement after the triplet slur passage.

Sorry, I'll stop dorking out now:p
