Hello. In an ad for SWR in Bass Player Magazine, Sam Rivers is crouched in front of a large set-up with what appears to be a custom Warwick of some sort. It's a basic Warwick 5-string (wide neck, perhaps with inlays) with a sort of mirror finish on the upper-half of the body with the rest finished plain white. How exactly did he get that perfect mirror finish? Could the body be part or all metal? Is it just a carefully sculpted mirror (ha! fat chance! )?
probably got it from warwicks custom shop, or has a luthier do it. It is not that hard to chrome plate a bass. But you have to have skills and a good shop to do it. But lets face it, the guy isn't hurting for money.
Warwick offers that as a option.....Only through their custom shop...Since Sam is a warwick user that was probally built at his request.... Warwick Offers unlimited options on their basses, If you have the money!
like i said, he isn't hurting for money by any means, so he could have any warwick his little heart desires. Lucky basstard.
I've actually heard the opposite in discussions about guitarist Joe Satriani's Ibanez "Chromeboy" guitars. As I recall, the issue is wood expansion which leads of cracking/peeling of the plated chrome. For the second run they used luthite bodies which lead to better success, although I've heard of players attaching static-vinyl to protect the finish.
I've never seen that bass.. but this one rocks! Its a custom Streamer Stage I with Ibanez monorail 2 bridge..
False. He's probably the only person in his band with any real skill at all. He has more cool licks than most bassists in other numetal bands that i've heard.
I'll 3rd that...I can't stand Limp Bizkit but Sam Rivers is an awesome rock bassist, and man, his collection is frigging beautiful.
Despite my hatred for Limp Bizkit, I'd have to agree with the above posts. Sam Rivers is better than most of the bassists in popular nu-metal bands these days.
I was going to say that CKYBassist, i just though i wouldnt risk it in case of starrting something Ill 4th it or whatever your up to He is one of my favourote players, and as much as LB have died in the rear end, i think him, wes (i know he has left) and john are the only talented ones in that "group"
I think good old Martin Sims (www.simscustom.com) will have done the chrome job on sam's bass. From what i remember he did Stu zenders chrome bass too. I think he offers the chrome as an option. Also noticed that sam's chrome bass has the Stage II Ying Yang inlays on it.
those aren't inlays they are LED's that arent turned on...by the way has anyone seen the green Streamer St I with the green LEDs he used on MTV icon now that was something hot. -Ryan
